Boat aquisition in France
Nick Bryant bought a three bedroom flat in Marseille. He used HiFX to send funds to France when he bought a boat to explore the coast around the city.
Why did you decide to buy a property in Marseille?
Marseille is so diverse. It’s a mish-mash of people and architectural styles. In addition a heavy reliance on shipping has started to attract service industries and telecommunications companies (including the company I work for!). Since I moved here, prices have soared and as a result of the money I’ve made on my property I decided to treat myself to a boat!
When transferring your money what options did you consider?
My first stop was my bank in France. I then contacted my bank in the UK and compared their rates with those of the other high street banks. I also spoke to my financial adviser and to some colleagues at work. One had used HiFX and recommended I give you a call.

I’m then told by a person who’s on his lunch break from junior school that I have 30 seconds to make up my mind on an exchange rate that will lose me money compared to yours!
