"France is seen as the safest place to buy," it has been claimed.

Due to poor interest rates in this country, there is little point having money tied up in savings, explained founder and director of my-french-house.com Patrick Joseph.

A property across the Channel could be a good investment which can be enjoyed by the owner and his or her friends and family, he continued.

Mr Joseph added the volume of enquires for French properties has decreased due to the economic climate but the interest was still there.

"It's extremely popular, if anything it is getting more popular," he commented, going on to add Brits living in France were able to get the lifestyle and sun they desired.

Expats who move to the country can still conveniently visit loved ones in the UK, Mr Joseph concluded.

Brits looking to buy a primary or second home across the Channel may wish to use an international money transfer system if paying with cash.
