People travelling within the eurozone could benefit from improved currency exchange rates, it has been suggested.
John McEwan, chairman of ABTA the Travel Association, said: "With prices having fallen in the eurozone and an improved exchange rate on last year, holidaymakers will get a pleasant surprise when they arrive in resort and head for local restaurants and bars."
The comments come as an estimated 1.9 million people are expected to be heading abroad on holiday this weekend (July 23rd - 26th).
Mr McEwan added: "I am delighted to see hundreds of thousands of us heading overseas this weekend, the traditional curtain raiser to the summer season."
Sterling rose further against the euro today on the back of positive GDP data from the Office for National Statistics.
The pound was trading at 1.19 at 15:30 this afternoon (July 23rd).
