International money transfers to France could help people from the UK beat the recent hike in prices.
Property in various major French cities rose in price by around 2.5 per cent over the first quarter of the year, according to the French Chamber of Notaries.
Increases in prices for older properties were reported in Paris, Bordeaux, Lille, Lyon, Toulouse and Nice.
However, a strong currency exchange rate between the pound and the euro could help movers to still afford the property of their dreams if they get a good deal through an independent foreign exchange broker.
John Busby, director of Athena Mortgages, said: "The pound is at a 19-month high against the euro and the horizon for rate increases still seems a way off and mortgage rates remain at their historic lows."
He added: "So for the meantime the buying conditions in France are improving overall."
