Bargain hunters looking for foreign property may want to make an international money transfer to the US.
According to the chief executive of Homesgofast.com Nicholas Marr, the country is "presenting a wider range of investment opportunities than ever before".
The comment follows a report from Primelocation.com, revealing that searches for foreign property grew by 145 per cent over the past year.
Mr Marr added that areas such as Detroit, Chicago and Buffalo were proving to be increasingly popular as UK investors were beginning to look away from traditional tourism property hotspots.
A three-bed tenanted home could be purchased in these areas for £18,000, the property expert claimed.
He added that the US as a whole is a "cash buyer's dream at this time", due to the "irresistible" bargains which can be found as a result of high levels of repossessed property.
