International money transfers to France could help property hunters

International money transfers to France could prove popular as the number of people interested in the moving to the country appears to have grown.

According to property website Primelocation, France moved up to take first place on the list of most-search for locations.

This put it ahead of Spain, although both countries experienced significant increases in search interest.

The number of people looking for a property in France grew by 158 per cent, while the number hunting for a house in the sun in Spain rose by 123 per cent.

Christopher Chadd, head of research at Property Frontiers, commented: "France will always command the attention of British investors and those looking to purchase their first second home abroad."

He added that Spain was also popular with the Brits due the "sun, sea, sand plus world class golf and a cheap cost of living".
