The number of people making international money transfers to Spain could increase as one of the country's towns has announced major plans for redevelopment.

Angeles Munoz, mayor of Marbella, told Overseas Property Professional (OPP) that she had grand plans to reinvent the city.

"It is fundamental that we stimulate the co-operation, synergy and communication between the different nationalities within our municipality," Ms Munoz told the news source.

"We also have huge opportunities for international tourists that provide fantastic experiences. Without resting on our laurels we must continue to improve our city."

International money transfers could save money when making the move from the UK to Spain.

While banks will charge hefty foreign exchange fees when moving between currency, a transfer through a foreign exchange broker can avoid this and offer a good rate.

Sales in the area suggest that there is already an strong interest in the Marbella area.

According to OPP, sales in the first quarter of 2009 were up 200 per cent against 2008.
