Brits who are interested in buying property in the US as an investment should wait a while before making a purchase, according to an emigration and property specialist.
Andrew Bartlett, of Andrew Bartlett Florida, said: "I am not personally that clear that certainly for the next few years, housing as such in the US is necessarily an investment. It may be somewhere you enjoy for your own use, but as something [of] a cycle that is going up and up and up, having lived here ten years, I have my doubts."
The property expert added that many investors were being put off buying property in the US because of poor exchange rates.
He noted that foreign exchange rates "are not in their [Britons] favour" at the moment, so "from their viewpoint it is becoming more expensive to move across".
When Brits do decide that prices are right, an international money transfer could help save money compared to bank foreign exchange transfer rates.
