People who are thinking of moving abroad may want to start to consider how they would like to transfer the money needed to buy one of a range of properties available in Sicily.
For those keen to enjoy island life in the sun, the Italian property company HomesandVillasAbroad.com could offer the perfect spot.
Prices begin at around $75,000 (£48,597) and property could benefit from access to a range of smaller islands off Sicily's costs which expatriates can explore.
A spokesperson for the property website said: "Sicily is a superb location and contains such bewitching beguiling contrasts.
"There are also its natural wonders, with visitors having the choice of skiing on Mt Etna, Europe's most imposing volcano and then, barely an hour away, they can be relaxing on the sands of Taormina."
The spokesperson added: "Factor in real estate prices that are some of the lowest in the country and Sicily really is an investor's paradise."
Sicily uses the euro which is currently demonstrating an average rate of exchange against the pound considering the turbulence in the eurozone.
At 16:00GMT today (February 23rd) one pound bought ?1.14.
