Expatriates who are visiting home could benefit from checking that they are not losing money on their flights.
Currency exchange has featured as a problem on Ryanair's website which attempts to charge customers through its own currency conversion when booking single flights from foreign destinations to the UK.
But the Guardian has revealed that converting the price from the euro fee to sterling could add as much as seven pounds to a £100 booking.
Known as dynamic currency conversion, the charges come about because Ryanair offers customers a 'guaranteed' price if they chose to convert their booking to pounds.
If customers do not take this option, the price charge will remain susceptible to established currency exchange costs.
The airline has previously been criticised for adding charges for luggage and credit card payments.
Rochelle Turner from consumer group Which? commented: "These aren't extra services - they're part and parcel of taking a flight."
