Food loving Britons considering a move abroad may be tempted by Japan following new praise for the country's restaurants.
A Michelin guide has been published in the UK praising two of the country's major cities, Kyoto and Osaka.
The guide has already attracted a fair amount of press attention following its release, but the press manager from the Japan National Tourist Organisation expects that this will increase.
Kylie Clark described the Kyoto cuisine, or Kyo-ryori, as the "template upon which Japanese culinary culture grows from".
She added: "The cuisine places great import on seasonal ingredients and subtle flavours. Regional specialties of Kyoto include shojin-ryori, vegetarian dishes developed by Buddhist monks and kaiseki-ryori, cuisine stemming from the tea ceremony."
Many Japanese people see Osaka as the food capital of Japan, but the Nishiki Market in Kyoto is also a popular destination for a wide variety of foodstuffs.
