Transferring money abroad and emigrating is becoming an increasingly popular option, as a new survey revealed 34 per cent of Britons hope to emigrate in the next decade.

The majority of people looking to move abroad came from Leicester (43 per cent), the survey from experience day provider Intotheblue.co.uk found.

Of those who hoped to emigrate, 61 per cent said they were prompted to leave the UK because of the way the country was run.

A high cost of living, the search for a warmer climate and rising rates of immigration were other reasons given for wanting to leave.

However, comments from Rob Holmes, ecommerce and marketing manger (cap down?) of Intotheblue.co.uk, suggested that emigration will remain the privilege of a select few.

Mr Holmes said: "In honesty, I think there's a higher chance that 17 per cent of the population will be moon walking courtesy of Richard Branson than a third of the population will emigrate come 2020."

The latest figures from the Office of National Statistics, published in November 2009, show that 427,000 people emigrated from the UK in 2008.

This was an increase of over 100,000 from the year before.ADNFCR-1995-ID-19553689-ADNFCR
