Location is "everything" when it comes to making a successful property purchase, an expert has asserted.

David Bates, business development manager at estate agent dandara, explains there are some "great deals" to be had, providing people do their homework on where they buy before they make firm decisions such as deciding to transfer money abroad to pay for a house.

He suggests people considering such a move find out what the economic outlook and growth prospects are for a region, as well as what employment opportunities there are and if there is a population growth forecast.

In addition, they should look at academic offerings such as major universities, facilities such as hospitals and transport links like rail and road access, as well as airports.

"All these things have to be taken into consideration," Mr Bates concludes.

The sector commentator made his comments at a seminar which recently took place at the Landlord and Buy-to-Let Show at the NEC in Birmingham.ADNFCR-1995-ID-18908023-ADNFCR
