Dubai property developers should not all be "tarnished with the same brush", it has been suggested.

Dan Johnson, director of specialist website TheMoveChannel.com, said that the outlook for the emirate's property market remains uncertain.

However, the expert also pointed out that the current problems affecting developer Dubai World are not universal across the property sector.

Last week, the state-backed developer said that it would be delaying the repayment of outstanding debts.

Latest data suggest that property values are still rising in the emirate.

According to the latest Colliers International house price index, house prices in Dubai rose by seven per cent during the third quarter of the year.

Mr Johnson said: "There are developers [in Dubai] whose projects and whose finance [have] no question about their financial health.

"I don't think there is any reason to believe that all developers there need to be tarnished with the same brush, [but recent events are] not a positive thing for the market."

Many foreign property purchases in the emirate are funded via money transfers.
