Many Britons who intend to emigrate to Australia have complained about new alterations to visa processing policies.

An online petition has been set up for visa applicants who feel strongly about the issue.

It is hoped that this will lead the Australian authorities to reconsider its reforms.

The Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) recently announced changes to the priorities for its General Skilled Migration programme, which has recently attracted high levels of interest from British professionals.

Some prospective emigrants are thought to be unhappy that these changes were announced without prior notifications.

Even applicants who are in the final stage of visa processing could be affected by the reforms.

Meanwhile, DIAC recently issued an update about the new citizenship test all emigrants to Australia must take.

Sample questions provided by the organisation include "What do we remember on Anzac Day?" and "What is the name of the legal document that sets out the rules for the government of Australia?"
