Favourable foreign exchange rates mean that India is an affordable destination for many visitors, industry experts suggest.
Travel guide the Lonely Planet recently stated the country's currency has strengthened due to its economic boom, but visitors may still find it is a cheap destination.
Tom Hall, editor at the guide, explained foreign exchange rates mean that some citizens, such as those from Britain, will get "a fairly hefty quantity of rupees" when converting cash.
In addition, the cost of midrange accommodation and food tends to be cheap, which may interest potential expats who are looking to relocate to more affordable locations.
"Areas which are traditionally popular are the main cities like Delhi, Mumbai and to a lesser extent, Calcutta," commented Mr Hall.
Meanwhile, a poll by the travel guide recently placed India in its list of best value destinations for 2010.
