Brits looking to make money transfers to overseas mortgages may like to consult a new list that looks into the quality of living in some international destinations.

Compiled by the United Nations, its Human Development Index (HDI) has ranked 182 countries depending on a range of criteria.

Locations that rank highly on the HDI tend to provide better educations to residents, many of who have longer life expectancies and benefit from stronger economies.

Results from the research show that Norway tops the rankings, while Australia and Iceland come in second and third place respectively, which may be of interest to potential expats searching for homes overseas.

The lowest scoring countries include Niger, Afghanistan and Sierra Leone, where populations have a reduced lifespan, as compared with locations placed higher on the index.

In other news, travel portal Cheapflights.co.uk recently revealed that Brits are increasingly searching for flights to mid-haul destinations such as Egypt.
