Expats looking for health insurance in Russia can now make international payments to a new product.

A partnership between Insurer Ingosstrakh and Bupa International sees Britons living abroad being able to access medical care if necessary.

The product offers three payment systems that correspond to varying degrees of health cover that is provided by many hospitals and clinics in Russia.

In addition, the policy includes some treatment for conditions that tend not to be available through other insurance products on the market, such as psychiatric disorders and HIV.

Keith Biddlestone, managing director of the health company, said: "This is an exciting opportunity for both Ingosstrakh and Bupa International.

"We look forward to a long and successful relationship, which will deliver the best possible health insurance for customers."

Financial advisor Shelter Offshore recently encouraged expats to opt for health policies that offer 24-hour support, so they can contact insurers at any time.
