Many older Brits may be seeking foreign exchanges services in order to go abroad, according to industry experts.

A study by the Halifax recently revealed that nearly half of all 55 to 64-year olds in the UK state they would like to live overseas at some point.

The research revealed that some Brits are motivated to experience new cultures after their children took similar international trips.

Commenting on the poll, travel expert firm Gap Year for Grown Ups states that spending time in other countries can boost the skills of all generations.

Lauren Mackay, brand manager from the company, said: "People come back feeling refreshed and invigorated by their time away from their usually daily routines.

"It's also a great way to improve your soft skill set no matter what your age."

Further figures from the Halifax survey reveal that 11 per cent of Brits planning an international journey would like to live abroad for at least six months.
