Investors who make online money transfers may benefit from downloading anti-virus software, it has emerged.
Internet security specialist Prevx recently encouraged Brits to use anti-malware programmes to reduce the likelihood of hackers accessing their accounts.
The tips were issued following research by Mintel that revealed some UK computer users are reluctant to conduct their financial affairs over the web due to fears of fraud.
However, Jacques Erasmus, director of malware at the security specialist, stated his belief that installing adequate software can make online money transfers safer.
He said: "There is already a considerable amount being done to educate consumers around security.
"By installing anti-malware products that can sit on top of your existing solution and detect new, fast emerging threats, you can have greater confidence in online banking."
Additional figures from Mintel put the number of people using the web for their banking needs at 34 million.
