Britons who plan to make international payments to health insurance policies have been encouraged to shop around by experts.

Financial advisor Shelter Offshore recently urged UK emigrants to thoroughly investigate their options when looking for health cover.

The company explained that expats ought to buy their policies from insurers that offer more than basic medical care.

Doctors' visits, expatriation and 24-hour support should be included in insurance bought by those who have transferred money to countries that do not have an NHS equivalent.

"When looking for an international health insurance policy you have to make sure you're looking not just at cost, but at value too," said the financial advisor.

"Ensure any provider you're considering using will be there to support you in any and all healthcare eventualities."

In other news, expert portal expatforum.co.uk recently stated that children who move abroad with their families may develop more life skills than those who do not.
