A favourable exchange rate and recovering US economy may benefit expats, according to industry experts.

Property portal HomesOverseas.co.uk made the claims following the release of figures from the National Association of Realtors.

Research shows that the number of people attempting to purchase new homes recently in the US increased to its highest level in two years.

Marc Da-Silva, editor at the website, stated his belief that a stimulated market and currency rates may prove lucrative for Britons who are considering buying investments in the country.

He said: "If this is the bottom of the property market, combined with the fact that the pound has strengthened, then now is potentially a good time to buy.

"It is a double whammy effectively."

Meanwhile, figures released by analyst Standard and Poor reveal that in June house prices in the US rose by 1.4 per cent, as compared with May.
