Property buyers may soon be using foreign exchange services to snap up affordable homes in Italy, it has emerged.

Estate Agent Casa Travella recently encouraged expats to consider taking out mortgages to purchase homes in the region.

Linda Travella, from the company, explained that the area may appeal to Brits as it offers good transport links to the UK and beautiful scenery.

In addition, expats may like to transfer money to affordable mortgages that can cover 70-75 per cent of the cost of their new home.

"Buying a property in Italy has never been so easy or offered so many superb opportunities to buy at competitive prices," said Ms Travella.

"Italy is a safe country in which to purchase property and although property prices have fallen a little, interest has never truly waned."

In other news, Britons were recently urged by finance portal thisismoney.co.uk to consider buying foreign currency in larger amounts.
