The number of Brits making foreign exchange transactions in New Zealand may continue at present levels, new reports indicate.

Recently the job security of UK emigrants who have settled in the country has been called into question following the release of government unemployment figures.

The number of people out of work in the region has reached five per cent, which means expats making foreign exchange transactions in the country may have trouble establishing their careers.

In addition, New Zealanders living abroad are expected to return to their home country as the global job market contracts, meaning competition for posts increases.

However, Steve Cantlon, Immigration New Zealand manager, urged potential expats to consider the country when choosing their home.

The manager explained that the region "still needs skilled migrants" and he highlighted 87 sectors that are seeking workers, such as accountants and dairy herd managers.

Recent figures from Immigration New Zealand reveal that there has been a 20 per cent rise in Britons moving to the region.
