Hong Kong may offer expats who choose to make international money transfers to the area better career prospects, it has emerged.

Speaking to the Telegraph, former civil servant for the region Mark Knight recently stated his belief that UK emigrants can benefit from the job opportunities available in China.

In addition, Britons making money transfers to move their mortgages to the region may also enjoy a luxurious lifestyle thanks to a favourable foreign exchange rate, which sees £1 worth 12.50 HKD.

"We had a huge apartment, a maid, gratuities and generous travel allowances," said Mr Knight.

"The opportunity to reinvent yourself is far greater here than back home. Switching careers in the UK would be much more difficult."

Meanwhile, Britons may find their money transfers to the continent are better-protected if European Commission proposals to launch a three-body financial regulator are implemented.
