Britons are making more foreign exchange transactions in long-haul destinations, it has emerged.

Expedia recently revealed that far-flung destinations are increasingly popular with UK citizens thanks to favourable exchange rates.

Jonathan Cudworth, head of product marketing at the company, revealed that countries such as Malaysia and Thailand are proving popular with Britons.

Mr Cudworth explains that low living costs means savings go further in exotic locations compared with those in Europe.

For instance UK citizens can stay in top-notch accommodations in Thailand for the price of lower-end hotels on the continent.

"We've also seen more customers going much further abroad to places like Dubai down to Australia," said Mr Cudworth.

"They are also going to places where eating and drinking out is cheaper."

Emigrants were recently advised by Homesgofast.com to purchase properties in Asia, in order to benefit from the reduced house prices in the region.
