Brits interested in buying property in Dubai are in a "good position to haggle", it has been suggested.

Due to the current economic climate, anyone willing to purchase a property is "gold" and so might be able to get a good deal, stated Shelter Offshore.

The website offers some advice for house hunters in the United Arab Emirates.

People should insist on seeing some of the property developer's completed works and not just rely on plans that they are shown, it said.

It is also very important to do some research, make sure the building company is going to be in business for the foreseeable future and will complete a project that is paid for.

Research from Global Realty Partners from 2007 revealed that property owners in the UAE were very multinational.

It showed that 15 per cent of homes were bought by the country's nationals, compared to 40 per cent by Asians and 20 per cent by Europeans.

Brits looking to buy property in Dubai might want to use an international money transfer system to make their purchase.ADNFCR-1995-ID-18961416-ADNFCR
