Bulgaria has been described as holding "attractive fundamentals" for property investment by a foreign living website.
According to Shelter Offshore, the country is "in a unique position", as it holds membership in the European Union but hasn't been as affected by the downturn as countries including Spain and Germany.
The online resource goes on to note the nation offers "better value for money" for investors purchasing in sterling, using currency exchange.
Adding the capital, Sofia, is the centre for most foreign investment commitments, the website states companies including AIG, News Corp, Microsoft and IBM have locations there.
Shelter Offshire states the city is expanding rapidly, both in output and population.
"All in all, there are some seriously attractive fundamentals supporting a property investment buy in Sofia at the current time in our opinion," it concludes.
Figures released earlier this month by Foreign Currency Direct revealed one in six Brits are considering a foreign land purchase.
