Bank charges could mean that expats using foreign exchange services are losing out on the benefits of the stronger pound, finance experts report.

Recent currency rates reveal that Brits are in a stronger position when making international payments in dollars and euros.

Rupert Lee Browne, finance expert, explained that sterling grew last week with £1 equivalent to $1.50.

However, Mr Browne pointed out that some bank charges may offset the pound's recent growth and advised Brits to choose their foreign exchange services with care.

"Travellers need to be careful to ensure that they see the benefit from the rise in the pound," he said.

Mr Browne added that UK citizens should check what charges are made by onshore banks when using credit cards for foreign transactions.

Sales of the Croatian Kuna recently increased thanks to favourable exchange rates, the Post Office reports.
