Britons looking to transfer money abroad may choose Thailand, as it has been claimed the region is winning a growing number of British visitors.

Travel information provider Trivago has suggested that many Britons are heading further afield to places like Thailand in search of a good deal.

Sian Williams, country manager for Trivago UK, said: "Thailand is a big destination for Brits at the moment."

She added that many people from the UK are attracted to the country because once there "everything is very cheap".

This growth in popularity could convince many Britons to transfer money to Thailand in an effort to take advantage of the relatively cheap prices in the country.

According to Cheapflights' UK search rankings, non-euro mid and long-haul destinations have become more popular in over the past year as consumers look to stretch their holiday budgets further.

Meanwhile, recent figures from Hoseasons revealed the eurozone was becoming much more expensive for Britons, making destinations further afield more attractive during the recession.

Hoseasons explained that 12 months ago the exchange rate was 15 per cent better for people travelling in the eurozone and 24 months ago it was 31 per cent better than today.
