People considering a move to Australia are indulging in a classic emigration fantasy, according to Rightmove.co.uk, as people recognise the benefits a move Down Under can offer.
According to Robin Wilson, head of overseas at Rightmove.co.uk, however, many people do not go through with their emigration plans because of issues anchoring them to their lives in the UK.
"This year has been typical in that we saw a big peak in searches just after Christmas as people faced with going back to work or dealing with another year in the UK looked into taking the plunge," he explained.
Mr Wilson continued: "However as reality intrudes or the dreamers lose heart, searches drop off again to more normal levels."
Nonetheless, transferring money to Australia with a view to emigrating to the country could provide an opportunity for people suffering with the credit crunch in the UK.
Many people have been made redundant during the recession and could consider using their redundancy pay to make an international money transfer to Australia to start a new career and new way of life Down Under.
The Real Estate Institute of South Australia recently reported the number of property sales in the region increased by 4.8 per cent in the three months to February 2009 compared to the previous quarter.
