Experts believe the current global economic crisis will not deter people from making a foreign exchange to set up home in Malaysia.

According to Christopher Chadd, head of research at Property Frontiers, once the global markets begin to settle down again more people could decide to emigrate to Malaysia because of the excellent property opportunities it affords.

"As the world starts to get back to some normality then demand for property in Malaysia will increase," he explained.

He added that the recent launch of a new low-cost airline serving the region should also help the area's growth.

"If we look back through history the advent of cheap flights to France and Spain had a dramatic effect on the demand for second homes by the British," he pointed out.

Air Asia X announced in November it would launch a low-cost flight service between London Stansted and Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

Homes Overseas Magazine recently identified Malaysia as the number one country in which to invest in foreign property in 2009.
