Making an international money transfer to South America may be a wise investment move this year, as it has been noted the Brazilian property market is in "very good shape".

Editor at the BuyAssociation Paul Collins explained the housing sector remains strong and is likely to remain an attractive place to invest in 2012.

"Most of this is down to the success of the economy in weathering the worst of the global economic downturn in recent years," the expert stated.

It was noted Brazil's economy recently overtook that of the UK, in terms of size, to become the sixth-largest in the world.

In addition, the country's minimum wage rose by more than ten per cent in 2011, meaning quality of life has improved considerably for many ordinary Brazilians.

As consumers now have more money to spend, the economy is set to further expand, making it currently "one the most stable environments" on earth, Mr Collins commented.

Investors may want to consider opting for ready-to-build projects as these give individuals "advantage of much shorter lead times before they can start earning money on the property".

In comparison, off-plan homes mean people have to wait longer to begin seeing a return on their investment, although they are often less expensive.

Mr Collins described how there are currently many projects in Brazil that are almost at completion, which means there is a vast amount of opportunity to purchase a place that can be rented out sooner rather than later.

As a result, the expert concluded these types of property allow the buyer "the chance to make a return on investment more quickly".

Waseem Saddique, chief executive officer of Housetech Developments, also recently spoke of the profits to be made from purchasing a home in Brazil, with the specialist claiming there are some "fantastic" prospects.
