Property moguls looking to make a money transfer and invest in a home overseas may want to consider Puerto Rico, as it has been described as a great winter destination.

Nicole Rodriguez, chief marketing officer at the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, explained how the location has plenty to offer people keen to enjoy some sun in the colder months of the year.

She described the temperatures as regularly reaching 70 degrees, which is not unusual for the Caribbean in winter.

However, it was suggested Puerto Rico has more to offer, compared with some of the other islands, with "very good infrastructure, great road access" and "everything in English" just some of the perks.

"The European traveller loves to get in a car and explore, not just stay within the hotel and that's something you can do," Ms Rodriguez commented.

In addition, Puerto Rico is now easily accessible, as it has non-stop flights from the UK, which were described as helping to make it "very inviting".

"There's a perception of Puerto Rico being very far away, but we're two-and-a-half hours away from Miami, three-and-a-half hours away from New York. So it's not that [far]," Ms Rodriguez remarked.

For those with a considerably large amount of money to invest, the hotel industry may appeal, as it was noted luxury accommodation is becoming more commonplace on the island.

Ms Rodriguez explained how the Ritz-Carlton will be opening at the end of next year, with this one of the "top investments" in the hotel industry right now.

Located in the Caribbean Sea, Puerto Rico is just 100 miles long and 35 miles wide, making it one of the more modestly-sized islands in the region.
