Investors looking to make a money transfer to South Africa and purchase a property have been advised on the popular places to buy.

Co-founder of Spacesa.com Sue McDermott explained how there are a number of locations that appeal to overseas clients.

Hout Bay on the coast was named as an area that is "consistently popular" with a whole array of abodes available.

"You name it, you can get pretty much any type of house or apartment," Ms McDermott commented, adding: "You can get a Cape Dutch house, a Stefan Antoni-designed property, you can get a Tuscan-style house, a Tudor-style - all manner of property here."

The location was noted as offering "a lot" of value as it is just outside of Camps Bay, which seems to appeal to between 30 and 40 per cent of individuals.

Those who want something cheaper and are just starting out on the property ladder, may want to take heed of Ms McDermott's suggestion of Sea Point.

It was described as closer to town and offers apartments for less expense, while remaining a "really popular" destination.

Individuals keen to enjoy South Africa's sunny weather may want to avoid Camps Bay as this was noted as being a particularly windy location.

Ms McDermott explained that while Cape Town in general is blustery, Camps Bay "gets the brunt of it".

This may put some investors off purchasing an abode in the region, with the expert claiming it's never been a hot spot for people looking to relocate.

However, individuals were encouraged to at least visit Camps Bay as it is a "stunning" location.

Finally, Ms McDermott suggested people will find they can get good value property with a sea view at "a fraction of the price" they would pay in most European countries.
