People planning an international money transfer on a holiday home could consider looking at the Rhone-Alpes region of France as an ideal place to help them make some money back on the property.

A growing number of Britons are heading to the region to enjoy the skiing facilities it has to offer, meaning a holiday home in the area could attract plenty of year-round guests.

Isabelle Faure, promotions manager for northern and central Europe at Rhone-Alpes Tourisme, said: "The British people were the first visitors of the region and 70 to 80 per cent of them come to ski."

The region is also popular with visitors because of its renowned Beaujolais wine, as well as the beautiful lakes that are nearby.

People considering making an international money transfer could benefit from buying a property near a skiing resort, according to the Ski Club of Great Britain.

The organisation has suggested many Britons will continue to ski this year despite the recession, potentially sacrificing their traditional warm-weather holiday for some time in the snow.
