Brittany is becoming a top destination for Britons emigrating for a new life abroad, it has been claimed.

The Brittany Tourist Board has suggested that the region's undiscovered wonders are being promoted by the thousands of Britons who have emigrated to the area and are enticing more people from the UK to make an international payment and purchase property in the region.

"A few thousand British people have settled in inland Brittany and they are very much a driving force in helping people appreciate the inland waterways within Brittany," said Michael Dodds, director of the Brittany Tourist Board.

As a result, more people thinking of emigrating are choosing the pretty French region as their destination, making an international payment on property in the area.

Commenting on the beautiful inland waterways that Brittany has to offer, Mr Dodds added: "That is part of the undiscovered part of Brittany that we like to push and we'd like more British visitors to know and appreciate."

Brittany has around 600 kilometres of navigable waterways, ranging from the historic Nantes-a-Brest canal to the estuaries of the Rivers Rance and Vilaine, the tourist board states.
