A new website has been created for Britons considering making an international payment on a property abroad and emigrating.

TakingUpResidence.com has been established to provide advice for those making the exciting move abroad, but daunted by the challenges they face.

The portal not only provides information about a country's history, but also gives users the chance to compare destinations side by side to decide which is right for them.

Michiel Schokking, founder and owner of TakingUpResidence.com, commented that the website aims to make the process of moving abroad easier.

"People throughout the world are increasingly moving across borders to live and work. We know from personal experience just how big a step, and how emotionally overwhelming, moving to another country can be," he said.

Those planning on emigrating might want to check foreign exchange rates before making an international payment on a property, as their money could go further if they wait for the right time.
