Despite fewer Britons potentially making international payments on property in Cyprus, enquiries from potential buyers are continuing apace in the Mediterranean country, an expert reveals.

Julie Liddle, an emerging markets researcher at Property Abroad, said that property in Cyprus remained "very popular" for sales until around "about six months ago".

She said that sales have since "dropped drastically" but this trend has not been replicated in the level of enquiries from potential buyers.

Ms Liddle explained that this may be down to the lengthier negotiation process between prospective buyers and sellers as the latter "hold firm" for a good deal.

"Resale apartments in Cyprus are currently the most popular, because they are the properties where bartering for a better price is most likely to be successful," she added.

"Though Cyprus resale property advertisers are currently holding firm, a few months down the line resale property sales will likely pick up as vendors become more flexible with their prices."

Properties available in Cyprus will be represented at the Place in the Sun Live exhibition, which will go ahead at Earls Court from April 3rd to 5th.
