International money transfers to Spain to become more popular?

International money transfers to Spain could become more popular than international money transfers to France as the property markets appear to be shifting.

According to the latest report from Primelocation, online searchers for Spanish holiday homes are now exceeding those for French houses by 20 per cent.

Indeed, interest in Spanish property rose by 43 per cent over the last 12 months, compared to a one per cent rise in the number of searches for French property.

This is the inverse of trends earlier in the year, Overseas Property Professional reported.

Meanwhile, US searches came top of the list, rising by 90 per cent over the year.

Ann Wright, international development manager at the online property firm, commented: "There's no single explanation for this trend - it's a mixture of hard-headed commercial considerations as people see bargains in weaker housing markets like Spain and the US, as well as changes in fashion and perhaps the influence of politics too."
