People who are struggling to find work in the UK might be tempted to make an international money transfer to Canada and try their luck across the Atlantic.

According to expatriate advice website Shelter Offshore, Canada is one of a number of countries struggling to fill a skills shortage in its workforce.

Germany and Panama are among the other nations said to be "actively targeting skilled workers from overseas to come and fill the gaps".

Rather than jump straight in and buy a property, Brits may want to sort out international money transfers to Canada to cover the costs of renting initially in case they change their mind about the move.

The country has jobs on offer for "technicians, skilled tradespersons, managers and professionals right across the country".

This is partly due to the fact that Canada did not suffer in the same way as many developed countries did during the credit crunch because its "banks didn't over lend to the sub prime market and [its] citizens did not borrow beyond their means".
