The election of Barack Obama in November last year had a huge impact on the number of Britons looking to purchase a home in America, an expert has claimed.
According to Annette Reeve, director at Mayfair International Realty, the new president inspired great interest among UK residents looking to make an international payment on a new home in the country.
"The Obama effect has been huge. It's amazing," she commented.
Ms Reeve went on to say that buying a home in the country is completely different from purchasing a holiday property because the buyer would need to get a job to move to America.
"Moving out to America is one thing but a holiday [home] is totally different because obviously you have got to get a job if you move out to America."
Earlier this month, property magazine Jet-to-Let reported findings that the USA is the third most popular place of interest among property investors, who may be planning to make that all-important international payment on a new property in the country.
