There are plenty of deals to be had when travelling to the Caribbean, it has been claimed.

Fred Mawer, writing for the Telegraph, explained it is now high season in the popular holiday destination, which would normally mean expensive and fully-booked flights.

This could be problematic for those Brits who have a holiday home on one of the islands who wish to get away for some winter sun.

However, due to the recession and the poor foreign exchange rates, the number of tourists from the UK and United States has fallen significantly, stated Mr Mawer.

There are now some great deals to be had on air travel, he continued.

British Airways is offering an "unusually generous deal" with a return fare in business class to most islands in March for around £650 less than normal.

Virgin is also offering cut-price fares for those who fly in its upper class cabin in the same month. Bargain hunters can get a deal for between £1,280 and £1,330 return on most Caribbean routes.

Mr Mawer recently recommended a number of activities for those visiting America on holiday to consider, ranging from cultural tours to wildlife breaks.ADNFCR-1995-ID-19036136-ADNFCR
