Britons may want to pay close attention to the currency exchange rates between the pound and the Canadian dollar.
A campaign has recently been launched by Northwestern Ontario in order to encourage expatriates from the UK and other countries to move to the area.
Comprised of 32 states, the region is hoping to rebuild its population with graduates and skilled workers.
Rebecca Johnson, vice-president of the Northwestern Ontario Associated Chambers of Commerce, told the Daily Telegraph: "Though Northwestern Ontario once had a large migrant population, most British people who move to Canada now go to the more populated centres like Toronto and Quebec."
She added: "Our population is ageing, and there are many businesses in the area which need new owners."
People who do move may want to consider making an international money transfer through an independent foreign exchange broker in order to get a competitive rate of currency exchange.
