Britons looking to emigrate to warmer climes and escape the credit crunch are being urged to head Down Under.
Australian recruiting company Elmvia was recently in Glasgow on the lookout for 300 skilled workers to fill positions in Australia, with jobs available mainly in the healthcare sector, the Herald reports.
Speaking to the publication, the firm's managing director Iain Dalton commented: "While we are feeling slight effects of the credit crunch, it's nothing like the doom and gloom here."
He went on to say that the standard of living is better Down Under than it currently is in the UK, with UK residents potentially being able to make the most of foreign exchange rates.
Meanwhile, those looking to make international money transfers could find that their cash goes further, as he added "you get more for your money".
According to national statistics, Australia was the most popular location for Brits to emigrate to during 2007, followed by Spain and New Zealand.
