In news that may be of interest to Britons planning to make international money transfers, the Travel Association (ABTA) has teamed up with London Metropolitan Police and other organisations to launch a new anti-fraud forum.
PROFiT - Prevent Fraud in Travel - has been set up to reduce fraud within the industry, which sets the market back by more than £10 million each year.
"The Met police know that economic fraud is a massive problem and so they are taking a strategic view of economic crime and they've set up forums within each industry sector and PROFiT is one of those sectors that's dealing with travel," commented Francis Tuke, spokesperson for ABTA.
Development of the group could benefit Britons who make international money transfers, as this is an area that can be targeted by fraudsters, who get victims to provide cash this way, the London Metropolitan Police initiative Sterling Prevention Unit has found.
