UK public borrowing at record high
This morning we saw the release of the public borrowing data for June, which came in at £20.9bn, the highest level on record and saw net debt rise to 63.9% of GDP, which is also the highest on record. The Treasury were quick to comment that this data demonstrates the urgency of tackling the budget deficit and Sterling weakened in reaction to the figures.
