Retail sales in line with expectations, but price outlook will be a concern for the MPC

British Retail Sales grew at a marginally slower pace than expected today after last months two year high. However the MPC will be concerned as further evidence of upward price pressure was shown with the CBI’s quarterly reported selling prices balance rising to +33 from +16 in February, which is the highest reading since May 1998.
